Wolffarth Elementary teacher Reagan Riley as a crossing guard

advertisement

This story is about MISMANAGEMENT of tax dollars by high paid adults calling themselves city and school district employees.

Instead of being met by crossing guards, the children are helped across the streets by teachers(Reagan Riley).Wolffarth is one of the public schools that doesn't have crossing guards because there aren't enough to go around.

Jeff Yates, chief financial officer for Lubbock, said the city has budgeted $121,645 for crossing guards in the 2007-08 fiscal year, which began Oct.1.Nancy Sharp, a spokeswoman for the Lubbock Independent School District, said because the city controls the streets, crossing guards should be its responsibility.

"I'm trying to hire some, but they only make minimum wage," Police Sgt. Mike Steen said. "We do the best with what we have."

The budget quoted above is for ALL positions of crossing guard. At the same time "fatman" Wayne Havens(look at his waist-line)is "chowing down" on a six figure salary worth more than that BUT Havens picture is NOT in this article,it's some low paid teacher holding that stop sign.At the same time Lee Ann Dumbauld is worth almost TWICE that crossing guard budget and ALL of her assistants are "raking in" a whopping six figure salary and like Havens they are not doing crossing guard duty either.

City of Lubbock and Lubbock Independent School District bring new meaning to "taxpayer dollar mismanagement" term.Havens,Dumbauld,Mayor Miller,Claude Jones and too many others to name deserve the "Golden Fleece" award for their "minimum wage,we can't find anybody,we're short on funds" BULL MANURE on the "crossing guard shortage".

I personally volunteer to "flog" all the "alleged" adult public servants mixed up in the mismanagement of property taxes that has resulted in this crossing guard shortage.

WAYNE HAVENS and MAYOR MILLER are "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" that the kids are not being looked after properly.

YOU TWO FELLAS GET YOUR STOP SIGN AND DO SOME CROSSING GUARD DUTY AND NO CANDY BARS WAYNE!!!

Hmm seems like just passing the buck over and over. Are they using the $121k budget or are they not able to find people to hire at minimum wage and thus aren't using it? Confusing the issue with the managers pay directly doesn't make sense, it does only in the context that this is one of the things they are supposed to be managing and it's not working drawing into question their actual value as managers.

I'm curious at $121k a year how many pedestrian overpasses could be constructed per year versus the number of elementary schools next to big roads? Maybe a bond issue backed by the $121k / year funds to build them all at once pay it off in 10 years and no guards needed with the children even safer is an answer.
